Weber Chuang is the Senior Associate VP at ASMedia Technologies. Weber acquired his Master’s Degree and Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering at National Taiwan University in 1992. His career started in R&D Engineering, General Instrument and AE at Mentor Graphics. He joined VIA’s CAD team in 1996 and afterwards led the high speed signaling integrity (SI) team. His career in marketing started before he joined ASMedia in 2007. Weber's current responsibilities include technical and product marketing as well as customer support.

USBストレージの進化USBは、コンピュータシステムの外部ストレージインタフェースとして広範囲に使用されています。例えば、外付けハードディスクやSSD用の外部USBストレージや、USBフラッシュメモリ、携帯電話、ポータブル・メディアプレーヤーなどです。USB3.0が商用化される以前は、USBストレージクラスとしては、Mass Storage ClassのBOTが使用されておりました。BOTはUSBストレージ用として優れてはいたのですが、外付けハードディスクのパーフォーマンスが増加するにつれて、BOTが転送速度のボトルネックとなってまいりました。このプレゼンでは、USB Attached SCSI Protocol (UASP)によるパーフォーマンス解消方法と、HighSpeed USBおよびSuperSpeed USBの現状および今後の速度要件を満たすためのインタフェース提供について解説します。

Grant Ley is a Senior Member Group Technical Staff in the Consumer and Computer Interface group of Texas Instruments High Performance Analog business unit. He has over 20 years combined experience in the semiconductor and computer industry including roles in system design, hardware applications support, device architecture and specification and standards engineering. His current role is systems engineering and architecture and specification and standards support. He actively participates in the USB community as a member of the USB Implementers’ Forum and is involved with the USB 3.0 Promoters Group as one of many company representatives of Texas Instruments. His semiconductor work has focused on interface technologies including USB, IEEE Std 1394, PCI, PCI Express, and PCMCIA. He has presented in the past at WinHEC and the 1394 Developer’s Conference. Grant holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering from Oklahoma State University and a Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas in Arlington.

Geert Knapen has been involved with USB since the beginning. In 1995, he became chair of the Audio Device Class Working Group and has held this position ever since. He also participated in the Common Class and Hub Working Groups. In 1999, He became chair of the Content Security Device Class Working Group. In 2000, he was elected to the Board of Directors of the USB Implementers Forum and held the position of vice-president and secretary until recently. He was also involved in the creation of the USB 2.0 and more recently, the USB 3.0 specification. Today, he devotes most of his time to the new Audio/Video Device Class Working Group and he is the editor for the AV Device Class Definition Document.
